The End of Summer

August 2024

In August, we revamped the water feature after some accidental damage required repairs. We replaced the underground water holding tank and rebuilt the front of the feature, enhancing its overall appeal. To beautify the space, we added rustic barrels, solar lights, and lush greenery, creating a tranquil atmosphere where guests can relax and enjoy the soothing sounds of water cascading over the naturally formed stone. A huge thank you to Ric and my dad, Alan, for tackling this project! Your hard work and dedication truly made a difference, and the results are fantastic. We appreciate all the effort you put in—wonderful job!

April Showers Bring May Flowers!

May-June 2024

With the warmer weather, we focused on landscaping, adding more butterfly bushes, evergreens, and a variety of perennials, all topped off with fresh mulch for a polished look. In June, we built a bigger and better fire pit, with our friend Ric selecting the perfect rocks for the project. Now, guests can enjoy cozy evenings by the fire, roasting marshmallows and making s'mores for a delightful outdoor experience.

Spring Into Action…

April 2024

I always cherish the transition from cold days to warm ones, especially when it allows us to work on the back patio area. With the help of my parents, Sandy & Alan, we constructed a beautiful 10x13 cedar pavilion and added patio seating, including chairs and tables, along with cornhole mats for some fun. The second-floor deck was furnished with modern yet comfortable seating, creating a stylish and inviting space to relax. The combination of sleek design and cozy cushions invites guests to unwind while enjoying the views. It’s the perfect spot for gatherings or quiet moments alike. We also kicked off our second water feature on the property, bringing a lively atmosphere as the guys enjoyed the process—definitely some good laughs along the way!

March Maddness

March 2024

In March, we focused on revitalizing the exterior of the 1950s coop, which was in need of some TLC. Our plan includes replacing all the siding and giving it a fresh coat of vibrant red paint. Additionally, we installed a 10-foot pull-down screen at the far end of the coop for presentations, movies, and slide shows, enhancing its functionality. To top it off, we commissioned Painted Gardens to create stunning rustic arrangements, which beautifully complement the venue's aesthetic.

Movin’ and Groovin’

In early November, Rick initiated the construction of a covered walking bridge that elegantly spans over the venue driveway, making it visible from the road. Crafted from rough-cut lumber, the bridge features a sleek black metal roof complemented by rustic black light fixtures, adding both functionality and charm to the venue. This striking addition enhances accessibility to the ceremony while seamlessly blending with the surrounding environment.

Couples and their wedding party adore walking over the bridge to the ceremony location, adding a touch of magic to their special day. The scenic route not only enhances the experience but also creates beautiful photo opportunities against the backdrop of the venue. It’s a cherished part of the celebration, making each moment feel even more memorable.

WE DID IT!!!

Over the past 10 months we have turned our 1950’s chicken coop into a work of art. With family and friends by our side, WE DID IT! Our dream would not have been a reality without their hard work, love and support. Mike and I are truly blessed.

On September 16th, we celebrated our daughter’s wedding here at the farm. It was a humbling and joyous experience that we will never forget. The smiles throughout the day made our hearts full.

Thank you for embarking on this journey with us! Even though the major remodeling has been completed, stay tuned for designer and fun updates. I have a few more ticks up my sleeve!!

Shiplap!!

It’s been a busy couple of weeks at the farm with tours and construction! Ceiling-mounted AC/heating units are being installed on both the 1st and 2nd floors. If you are looking for a reliable and professional HVAC company, call Robert Wagner, owner of The HDL Co!

The electrical work is close to being finished! Can’t wait for the beautiful light fixtures to go up!

And Rick, our wonderfully talented carpenter is installing shiplap!!! Planning on painting the new shiplap and keeping the beauty of the original lower section!!

OO-LA-LA

Hi everyone!! So much progress has been made over the past few weeks!! The electrical is approaching the finale and all light fixtures have been decided upon. Mike, Carson, and I spent last weekend tearing down the remaining cardboard ceilings original to the coop. Only had to remove a few thousand nails LOL! Rick has been very busy insulating the 2nd-floor ceiling and adding more beam work. Take a look at the black metal ceilings!!! Not an easy installation but my goodness it is beautiful! The wood beams contrasting against the black……gorgeous!! What do you think?!?!

2/24/2023

BEAMS!!

The beams are here!! Yesterday, specially ordered, 14 ft Douglas Fir beams were delivered to The Coop! Despite the low temperatures, Rick was hard at work installing these beauties on the second floor. When completed, every 10 feet running the length of the venue, the beams will expand across the center opening, run up the ceiling knee wall and finish off at the peak. The contrast between the wooden beams, black metal ceiling, and stunning chandeliers, will leave guests in awe!! The pictures below show the horizontal beams. Next week Rick will start on the vertical and ceiling beam installation! I’ve also included images from my design idea board for the ceiling.

More windows and electrical!!

Can’t hold back the excitement, had to post another update! Our friend Rick, is hard at work again today installing beautiful windows that overlook the future ceremony area and covered bridge. Electrical work is also proceeding!!! With this in mind, my Amazon list of light fixtures is growing. I thoroughly enjoy this stage of design!!! Picking out the jewelry for the coop :)

Framing, almost done!

Framing for the 1st-floor bathrooms, the Blue Spruce Wedding Suite, the catering room, and the bar are finished! The Blue Spruce Wedding Suite will be a handicap-accessible room conveniently located near the ADA-compliant bathroom. The suite can alternatively serve as a 1st-floor sitting room for guests.

Caterers will love the meticulously designed prep room with their very own private building entrance and service entrance to the main hall.

The ~15ft bar will accommodate 2-3 bar tenders and provide ample space for guests.

Electric work will continue at the end of the week!

From the Windows to the Walls!!!

Hi everyone!! We have several updates here at the farm. To keep the historical integrity of the coop, Mike and I decided to keep the original windows that run along the front of the venue. The North and East sides of the venue are receiving energy-efficient replacement windows.

The dance floor is in!!!! Guests get your dance shoes ready and let the conga lines commence on the 60’ by 12’ medium-tone dance floor!

Our hand-scraped wood flooring is also in! Look how beautifully the flooring contrasts against the lighter Douglass Fir beams.

Stay tuned for more updates!!!

12/30/2022

Electrical

The electrical is being updated at the coop this week. With help from friends and family, the power line has been run from the street to the coop. Not an easy process!! Thank you to everyone involved for all of your hard work!

12/21/2022

Vaulting

Rick was very busy this week vaulting the ceiling on the second floor. The transformation is remarkable! He has about 30 more feet to go. Next, we will be purchasing large beams that will run across the opening and tie the two sides together.

12/03/2022

Railing Panels

This weekend we saw a lot of change in the venue. With help from friends and family, the concrete has been removed from the second floor! Mike and I ordered the hardwood flooring and the laser-cut metal railing panels were delivered!!

11/28/2022

Walls!!

In just a day we have almost all of the walls framed on the second floor. We have planned for one bathroom designated for the bridal party, two elegantly-spacious dressing rooms, a fireplace sitting area, and a lounge. Framing will continue and then the 1st floor will begin. Progress!!!

11/23/2022

The Stairs Are In!!

This week our builder, Rick, was hard at work transforming the main access point to the 2nd floor of The Coop. Permanent treads will be installed once we are finished with construction. We also picked up a historic-sliding barn door this afternoon! The plan is to remove the paint and make the hardware and rails pop!
